R27 weight

I am awaiting delivery of our new R27 in March. I am a little concerned that the vessel loaded for a trip may be at the weight limits of the trailer. Has anyone actually weighed a R27 with fuel, water and provisions? We will also have a dinghy and a 6 HP engine but I can calculate this.

The first two lines are my truck's axles. The next line are the trailer's tandem axles. I weighed the truck again with out the boat and trailer to come up with the tongue weight. We had a 2.5 Yamaha dink motor and a Bombard Max 2 dinghy in the back of the truck maybe maybe a half tank of fuel in the boat. Not much in the way of water on the boat. We were on our way home from the northwest so we had our full contingent of trailer gear aboard either on the boat or in the truck. The hand written note on the side is showing the trucks weight by itself and then subtracted from the trucks axles when connected to the trailer. Hope this helps.

We had Kismet weighed at a local gravel yard. I had 50 gallons of fuel, 20 gallons of water, no dinghy or outboard attached to the boat. Kismet weighed 8,892 lbs and the trailer came in at 8,892 for a grand total of 10,760 lbs. To help with tongue weight I always carry the dinghy. outboard, tools and more in the bed of the truck. Also when towing long distances I try to have an empty holding tank, minimum water and fuel. We've done a fair amount of trailering of Kismet and the trailer has seemed to have held up fine, but it may be close to capacity.

I run at 10,400 pounds. trailer is 1,500 pounds so boat loaded with supplies, half fuel, 10 gallons of water, wife's makeup and shoes is 8,900 pounds

My R-27 weighs 9,486 lbs. with factory Mase generator, AGM batteries, 3/4 fuel, empty water and holding tanks and the usual gear.

Thanks all for your info. Sounds like the weights are all closing in on the 9000 lb max for the trailer Ranger recommends. I better buy the beer once we reach our destination or upgrade the trailer.

Clarification.....trailer not included in the weight that I posted. My Float On trailer weighs 1,125 lbs.

Our R-27 has all the normal options including generator. We use a Float On tandem axle trailer rated for 12,000 lbs. plus. We use Michelin rib radials instead of the ST (**** tires)rated trailer tires. I would get the trailer wheels and tires balanced. Pay close attention to proper recommended air pressure. Get electric over hydraulic brakes. This is just me. We and a number of other R-27 owners have trailered coast to coast and back with 12,000 pound + tandem axle trailers and lived to tell about it. :mrgreen:
