I'm new to this forum and considering buying a 2018 R29. Can you tell me if there is a connection for cable TV on the boat that I can connect to from my dock. I cant seem to find anything that addresses this. Thanks!

Ranger does not provide a cable hookup or city water hookup on the boats.

Did not know that...thanks. I guess they excel on the hook and while cruising and not so much at the dock which is a good thing. How is the over the air TV reception quality? depends on location of course.

Not really been an issue while at dock. I just add water to the tank when I arrive, whether I plan to stay at the dock or on the hook. Over the air reception these days is pretty awful unless you have a 55' sail boat mast. I have a Microsoft Surface and wireless HDMI adapter into the tv.

When at the dock I stream over wifi. When on the hook we watch pre-downloaded offline copies from Netflix or other sources.

At my Marina when docked I've tried using the Marina's Wi-Fi network but found for example I'm unable to stream Netflix.... it simply times out. I'm guessing the Marina's Wi-Fi bandwidth is either limited or that they somehow restrict high volume data streaming.

Yea... I also preload my thumb drive or laptop with movies and such like and stream these things via my local setup Wi-Fi network to my onboard TV without issues. I use the Apple ATV for doing this and can even use the Apple AirPlay feature as well.

I installed an A/B switch and ran a cable connection to the cockpit so I can connect when at marinas that have cable. Don't use it to often though.

We have a KVH antenna on our boat which we had installed about three years ago. We love it and Directv which we also have at home. It works everywhere except in covered moorage. Our model is an M3. You might ask your dealer for local sources.

Last week we took delivery of a new R29 CB from Pocket Yachts. They will be installing a cable TV connection for us so we can have cable access at the dock. Thanks for your input and suggestions!
