Subject: R29 CB Factory photos during its building

On Feb 27 I visited the Ranger Tug's factory in Monroe and took photos of my 2019 R29 CB being built. The timing was perfect as the boat was in its assembly stages with hull completely exposed allowing many things that eventually would be hidden to be visible and photographed before the cabin and cockpit liner is are placed onto the hull, as well as the cabin shell and command bridge as a separate unit.

The shared Photo Album I post here can be downloaded if you wish to your own local computer. I've yet to assign captions for each photo but will do so at a later date. If any photo needs explanation you may PM me and I'll do my best to explain what the photo is showing.

With time I will identify the various things in each photo with text and arrows etc. With this in mind, if you have an interested then revisit the referenced Shared Photo Albums I post here periodically to see my updates.

Thanks so much for posting your photos - Nancy and I have a 29CB - Avellana - to be built in April. We are very excited and plan to visit the factory ourselves. Being from Oregon we don't know when we will get to visit but having your pictures will be very helpful. I really enjoy this TugNut site and am learning a lot about our new boat reading all these posts.
P.S. My sister ordered a 29 this year at the boat show and our son owns a 2018 27OB.

I bought a boat show display boat, so I never got that chance to go watch it being built, and I only live about 30 minutes from the factory. I really wanted to do that.

Thanks for posting the photo link! It would have been hard to imagine the miles of cable and hose that live out of sight. Very impressive.
 
ah the luxury of accessing those systems from the other side! that location for the nmea backbone looks like a pain to get to later as that seems to be up against the hull.

Actually the NMEA backbone is easy to access via a drop out panel at fwd wall of the cave. This access is also needed for getting to the AIS 800 box to be programmed with boat Name and MMSI. RT has designed the fwd part of the cave to enable access to that area which includes the NMEA backbone, AIS 800 and the Garmin auto pilot compass. Beside/aft of the AIS 800 box is the small Garmin Auto pilot compass as well. This is a case of RT getting things right.... 😉

The AIS 800 has a built-in GPS antenna and I'm told works well within the fibre glass confines, as does the same for the Chart plotter's internal GPS antenna(s).

As an aside, on the R27/OB the AIS 600/800 box is located behind the microwave and to access the AIS box one has to pull the microwave out.

When I saw the location of the AIS800 I panicked as I want to upgrade our AIS300 and it looked impossible to get to. Sounds like it's easier than I thought, I'll climb into the cave this weekend when I'm down puttering on the boat.

Love the two chartplotters, I'll be doing the poor man's version and adding a 12.9 iPad Pro and mirror the plotter up on the command bridge.

Your factory pictures are great, your boat will be beautiful. I'll keep my eyes open for it this summer.

You should check with RT folks (Andrew, Kenny, Tim) about your AIS 300 box location. RT/factory do not necessarily locate things in the same location for every model boat they build. No matter, check the panel access as I've described and post back what you find out. Hopefully you will have the needed access to your AIS 300 box.
 
With two Chart Plotters it should be noted that the 7612 closest to starboard is the one that provides video out to the cabin's roof mounted TV. There's no video feed from the chart plotter(s) to the forward berth's TV. Thus the cabin's roof mounted TV can display/mirror whatever is being shown on the 7612 closest to starboard.

Also, the 7612 closest to starboard is the only one that provides Sonar data. The 2nd chart plotter does not have the sonar feature.

As long as all the displays are on the Garmin Marine Network you should be able to display the Sonar data on any of the other plotters. The Starboard 7612 is the XSV which has the sounder module integrated and the transducer connected.

I'm curious to know if having three Garmin 7612 Chart plotters on my R29 CB will each be 'sporting' their own locally hosted Wi-Fi networks ? If using my Apple iPhone and displaying/discovering local Wi-Fi networks, will the three 7612's local hosted Wi-Fi networks show up individually for me to choose which to connect to ?

You are correct. Each plotter will have its own SSID that you will need to configure if you wanted to connect to them individually.
 
On our CB with one plotter at the cabin helm and one at the command bridge helm, we have one Wi-Fi network (named FlagShip of course). Once connected via that network through the Garmin app (Garmin Helm in my case) on the phone or iPad, I have my choice of which plotter I want to mirror/control, and I can easily switch between the two.
 
I'm slowing adding photos that have annotations describing the various components in the photo image. I hope this helps others who may be wondering what all the various objects and pipes/hoses are for.

Note that the 5 batteries on port side and the one on starboard side will eventually be hidden once the combined cabin and cockpit liner is lowered onto the boat. From my conversations with the factory and RT folks I've discovered how best to remove the batteries at some future point when required.

For the port side, first remove the first two batteries and slide/pull them out. There's enough wire slack for doing this. Once removed then take a photo to capture where all the wires are attached to. The wires can now be removed and the batteries placed aside. Remove two screws holding the base white starboard where the two batteries were removed from. With these two screws removed you can now pull/slide the remaining three batteries out into full view on the white starboard base plate; there should be enough wire slack for doing this. Now, as before, take a photo to capture where all the wires are attached to. Remove the wires and you now have all 5 batteries removed and wire-free.

The port side is much the same but easier to pull out as it's just a single battery. Again, take a photo of the wire attachments before removing the wires.
 
I posted a photo in the Shared Photo album referenced in my OP showing the Portside and Starboard side batteries and notated how to access them when they become hidden.
