I'm planning for a future replacement for my Promariner Combi inverter/charger. As we know, they don't last forever. I'd like to keep the same mounting location with minimum wiring changes... For those that have replaced their Combi, what has been your solution?

Thanks,

When I need to do the same thing, I am planning to get the ProMariner 2000W Pure Sine Wave Combi inverter/charger.
This will mean NO wiring changes at all; a straight replacement but pure sine wave instead of quasi and a 70 amp charger instead of the current 50 amp charger.

Our current ProMariner QS has given us (and the PO) reliable, trouble free service for 6 years--so I plan to stick with ProMariner, but go pure sine wave.

I am not sure if Promariner is making the Combi anymore. Xantrex makes one and It is almost the same with the same connections an smaller and lighter. I have not personally installed one, but I advised a fellow tugger to use it as a replacement and he was quite happy with the unit and install. The feature I like best about it is that you can change the program so that the inverter won't kick in if you lose shore power.

I remember that being a discussion item several years ago. Both the Quasi and Pure sine wave versions are listed on Promariner's product page online but I'm willing to bet that it will be very hard to find one available online. I had a hard time finding a combi a couple of years ago when the transfer switch failed. I"m also very keen on having an inverter/charger that won't default to inverter mode on loss of power.
