Howdy folks. Doing some math on slip requirements for an R29.

LOA is 33. Marina offers a 32 and a 36.

Even though they allow a foot of overhang, will a 33 work or be a total PITA vs a 36?

For $100 a month price difference?

Thanks in advance!

If you have a dingy on swim deck, an R29 is typically 34 ft. I have an R29 in a 32 ft slip. I am allowed 2 ft overhang. It is tight, yet you get used to it. It is easily doable for me.

Are you including your dingy too?

I have a R31, and my marina has 36ft slips which would work, but I opt for the 40ft. The slips themselves are a bit wider, and the fingers coming out of the 40ft are wider also so it's easier to maneuver into the slip. Given we are single screw, I appreciate the extra room with current and wind.

I would go for the bigger one personally, especially if you are planning on doing a lot of shorter day trips, if you plan to do a lot more week long cruises and you aren't going to be in/out of your slip as much then maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

Hello we have our 29 cb in a 35 slip . Preparing for Hurricane Erin in the southern Chesapeake . So perhaps weather will help you decide . That said I had a 33 ft searay in a 30 slip with overhang but it was well protected inner harbor and we had no problems with departure and arrivals . A couple of pics and if flexible try out each slip, you’ll find your happy place right away !

Thank you! Very useful.

Good luck to you in the next few days!

There are two R29s on my dock which are in 30' slips with 3' overhangs. Both have removed the bow ladder completely in order to fit.

I think it also depends upon how high the dock is. High dock you’re stepping onto the transom. Low dock you’re using the swim platform.
