Does anyone have a recommendation for a MINIMUM slip width for an R29? I am in process of purchasing an R29, and I realize the beam is 10' but I suspect it's slightly narrower at water line. I'm considering a 10'10" slip width - is this wide enough? Thanks.

That seems quite narrow. Fenders? Wind and or current?

Cheers,

Bruce

My 8.5' wide R-27 wouldn't fit in a 10 ' slip. I have a dock finger on one side and another boat on the other side. With fenders on both sides plus room to maneuver, I must have at least 11' or more....I'll measure it this weekend.

Are you sharing the slip with another boat? If it is that narrow, that better be a pretty good boater!

Thanks for feedback. A few follow-ups:
- slips are surrounded by concrete-covered docks/walkways on either side w/vinyl covered wood facing inside of slip
(one vessel/slip, thus no sharing)
- minimal, if any current, but some wind

Thanks.

Tugbuyer:

At 10'10" that only gives you 5" on either side, way to narrow. I would think a 12' wide slip would be what a 10' beamed boat would need as a minimum and 14' probably better suited. The wider slip is better for negotiating current and wind when entering and departing and obviously gives you the wider berth for better protection when docked and there is a storm, people getting on and off the boat and rocking the boat or from the wave of a discourteous passing boater.

We keep the Salish Rover in a 12' by 40' and it fits perfect---great access for cleaning from either side.

With only a few inches of space I suspect the boat will take a beating what with wind/weather/tide/wakes/etc.

I thnk 10 ft 10' is great... just line it all with fenders and bumpers and it will wedge it's self And you will not need any lines ...but seriously not do able .....I consider myself an experienced boater and with my 12 ft slip with a wind even with the thrusters it can be a challenge .. Don't go under 12 ft .. That's my 2 cents..

Appreciate all the feedback - you've affirmed what I already knew but didn't want to believe. I will target for minimum 12' slip width.
