Hi,

I am a soon to be R29 owner and I need to know the dimensions for the swim platform. Does anyone know the width, depth and length of the R29 platform and also how high it is from the waterline?

Regards,

Tim

Hi Tim,
I apologize to you. I was on our boat this afternoon and forgot to measure the transon step for you. It is, however, the width of the boat (10') and about three feet deep. Underway it is at the water level at the aft most part and quite wet but when the boat is stationary, it is about a foot above the water level. I hope this helps you.
Regards and Merry Christmas,
Bob and Nita

98"x34" length and width
About 4 1/2" from the bottom of the swim step to the water. This all depends on what you have loaded on the stern.
Depth is 3 1/2"

Thank you all for the infomation. I will not take delivery until early February, I am trying to figure out the best davit system to use. Ideally, I would like to use a Hurley type of davit (for a Pudgy), but both my rigger and I wonder if the dinghy would ride to low to the water line. I will forward the specs on to the rigger and get his opinion.

Regards,

Tim

For what it is worth, I use the weaver davits. My 10' 2" zodiac sits 8" above the water hanging off the swimstep behind the rails. When I am running it really sits lower to the water. About 5" I think. It has never been a issue.
It works great! I was in a gale today with 35kt winds and 10' seas at 8 seconds. It was one hell of a ride but I will say that the dinghy and davits work great and everything was very stable. I even hang my 8hrs outboard off the back rail with a mount, and it too is very stable. I have not added any extra support.
This was in a head sea and a following sea. 25 miles total.

Again... For what it's worth,
Good luck with whatever you decide,

Stuart
