Found rotting wood in port and starboard storage compartments. Discovered drink holders drained into them, and kept them wet. I added 3/8 vinyl tubing to direct water to cockpit for 4 side ones, and bilge for 2 aft ones that were draining into stern compartment. Surprised this detail was missed by Ranger Tug as they did such a good job on everything else.

This is something that we have changed on the newer models but I will tell you that the rotting floors isn't from this. It is from the screens in the cockpit scupper drains not being clear allowing water to overflow in the compartments. I see so many times that limber holes in those compartments aren't kept clean and the water will then sit on the floors. I would recommend removing the scupper screens and checking all limber holes and screens frequently to make sure compartments are draining correctly and the cockpit compartments keep standing water off of them.

I recently got a used 2013 31CB that was very well maintained, but I did notice that the floors in those compartments were damp and rotting. Replacing them is on my very short list of things to do- would you recommend something other than wood?

Starboard, its expensive but will last for ever. Wood at or below the water line is never a good idea. If you use wood make sure its a good marine plywood and make sure it is encapsulated on all four sides with a good epoxy resin. This is the issue with the compartment floors in the Rangers and Cutwaters. The tops are coated with Gelcoat but the end grains and bottoms are not. At least in my boat they are not sealed. Even with clean drains I have spill over of water into the compartments from the hatch troughs. Not much because I have a full enclosure. I imagine it happening more without an enclosure.

I removed those screens as soon as I bought the boat almost 3 years ago based on comments on forum.
We tie up starboard side next to a boathouse, and rain fills holders from roof. Put cups in them first and they filled pretty quickly, port in open maybe 1/4 as much. Hopefully tubing will direct to cockpit floor and to unimpeded drains.
