Is there an AM/FM antenna on the boat? I get terrible reception. I can't even get AM at all, most of the time. I was thinking about adding one? Any ideas?

Hi Chester:

Some folks have used the pigtail enclosed with the fusion radio and attached it to the window frame. That didn't work for me in the metro Atlanta area, even with the 100k watt fm stations.

I ended up using a Shakespeare 4350 folding am/fm marine antenna mounted just forward of the port hatch. The antenna folds horizontal and locks in place for trailering.

There's a picture on my photo album at:

We were able to use this in Desolation Sound last summer to pick up CBC stations via skip on the am band at night, as well as getting excellent fm reception when in range of fm. And it works great to listen to the Atlanta channels now too.

Thanks. You must have connections? I can't get an album. I registered again and again, never got the email and can't post pix. Oh well, at least I enjoy this site and my R27!

Hello Chester

On my 21-EC I had very poor Radio reception on the Fusion stereo system. On the back of the unit I found an antenna plug. Into the plug was connected an approx 2' length antenna wire with ring terminal on the end. Originally it was connected to nothing. It was long enough to pull up between the cabinet and wall to reach a window frame screw. That improved reception a lot. I'm sure the fixed-mount antenna on the roof would work better but this is adequate for me...for now.
