I have been busy farming and the boat is outside due to the shop being used for other issues. I have not been in the cabin for a few weeks. We have been having monsoons. Just went into the boat and discovered to my horror that I have rain leakage on the starboard side of the cabin. Two areas.
One is right between the rear side window and the back wall, i.e. the left rear corner of the cabin, about 4 inches forward of the corner and starting right under the eyebrow.
The other is in the area between the port hole and the window frame (aft window). Also starting under the eyebrow. A wider area of staining.
The stains are black-brown and ugly (aaaargh)

The ceiling-ledge / eye-brow has the decorative teak wood. Now as sure of myself as I am with things mechanical-electrical I look at the stained mouse fur and get that helpless feeling. I do not see exposed screws for taking the eyebrow wood down to get at the mounting bolts of the sports rack / hand holds (which I assume are the source of the leak). And the thought of peeling/ripping the mouse fur off the wall leaves me weak inside.

Ya know Lord - I have been a really good boy lately and not even coveting thy neighbors ass. Why me?

I also experienced the leak between the port hole and the window. Turned out to be the front end of the handrail on the roof that was leaking. Rather than attempt to take the boat appart to get to the nuts that hold the handrail on, I just caulked the front end of the handrail from the outside. It worked.

I generally don't like quick fixes as the problem usually comes back. But I hear what you are saying. And I also strongly suspect the handrail/sports rack as the source.

Hello Levitation,

I think this would be easier to discuss over the phone. If you still need help just give me a call at the shop.

Thanks,
-Kenny
