Our Johnson pump bilge high water alert started alarming this week. We've checked the boat and there is no water accumulating in the bilge. We then disconnected the Johnson control panel from the battery and the alarm stayed off for the rest of the day. Fast forward one day and the alarm is back on. We're thinking that we need to either clean off or replace the high water sensor but we are having a hard time reaching it. Do you have any recommendations on how to remove, clean or replace the sensor? Any other thoughts on what could be causing the alarm?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,

You are on track with a dirty or faulty sensor. The sensor is screwed to the bulkhead with #2 square head screws and has two wires running to it. If the sensor is bad, you will need to squeeze in on the stbd side of the engine to reach the sensor. You will need 2 blue shrink connectors to splice in a new sensor, which can be done under the removable floorboard in the main salon. The harder part is uninstalling/installing the sensor.
