Does anyone own or know who owns the Ranger 31 CB in South Beach Marina, Newport OR? The radar mast was coming down and a dock mate secured it. The salon lights are open (windows) and the bottom growth is getting thick. This is my new next door neighbor, and I have no problem helping to secure the boat, but want permission before going aboard.

What's the name of the boat? If you find out the owners name and send me a private email I can help get in contact with them.

There is no name on the boat. A dock mate thought the boat might have come from Texas, or they were confusing it with us, who did come from Texas.

Maybe jot down the hull number and Andrew could track them down that way.

I keep my R25 at Newport. Yesterday I walked by to take a look at this boat. It looks a little ignored but nothing out of the ordinary. Many of the boats at south beach are in a similar state. The boat looks secure although not in great condition. Looks like it has not been used in quite a while. Apparently the boat is no longer a priority for the owner for whatever reason.

The owner is recovering from a quadruple bypass June 22nd and would appreciate any help offered. He will be returning to the boat next week to start cleaning up.

Unfortunately a heart attack and quadruple bypass has taken priority. I should be able to attend to the boat soon. It is my pride and joy and will be totally cleaned up soon.

There was concern about health issues. My wife and I should have our boat in the slip next week. Please say hi. I was looking for permission to board her to take care of a few things. I don't like to go aboard a boat without permission.

You permission anytime you see a problem. Hope to meet you soon.

This is what makes owning a Ranger Tug and TugNuts so great, people helping each other in times of need. We've talked about going to a larger used trawler, but the idea of losing the Ranger Tug famly will keep us from making that move.

If I see you out and about I will stop by and say hi. You are invited to do likewise. I am sure you have noticed my boat because of its location. If you need any help with it if I am around just ask, happy to help out.

I was on the boat today. Can't seem to find wiring diagrams for an R31. House and engine batteries are drained and they are not charging. Expect something to be loose somewhere, but don't know where to start looking.

Welcome back to the boat. I'd suggest starting with the batteries while you waiting for a wiring diagram. Check each battery to make sure the terminals are clean, clean them as needed and tighten each connection on each battery. While you have the connections apart it would be a good idea to apply a little dielectric grease or corrosion block to all connections after you've cleaned them. If you have flooded batteries you should also check the water level in each battery and add distilled water as needed. Keep us posted as to the cure.

Check the battery switches. Also, will the boat charge on the generator?
