We have lived with our Ranger Tug 31 for nearly a year and have logged 300 engine hours and over 60 nights on board. What a great design and terrific factory support. The design is innovative, thoughtful, and functional. Our goal is to live within it but have added a few touches to help.
Our Top 10 Modifications are:
1. Full cockpit surround. King Marine took the original Bimini, tightened it up and added vinyl curtains and screens. Cold sunny winter days warm the cockpit like a greenhouse. Its a big additional room rain or shine.
2. Heater vent in master head. Warm bathroom, dry shower! Luxury.
3. Bedding by YachtBedding. May seem pricey but worth it for super comfortable sleep. As good as home.
4. USB outlet next to TV in master bedroom. Netflix movies through the iPhone without battery dying before the end.
5. Bluetooth adapter for Fusion sound system. Easy no bake connectivity and control.
6. SideBar porta-pub dispenser. Looks like a factory option. The bar is always open, bottles of gin, vodka, bourbon, tequila, and vermouth are secure and out of sight.
7. Portland Pudgy dinghy. Incredible design befitting a Ranger Tug. USCG approved for 4 people with motor. No pump required. Sails well, too. We use a Torqueedo electric - no gas on board.
8. Shades for skylights including black for bedrooms. Velcro attached.
9. g2Vision chip for Garmin chart plotter. Very efficient routing, information, and satellite photo perspective. )
10. 2 large Weems and Plath instruments mounted on panel above and behind pilot house. Easy read, yet out of the way. Barometer + Temperature and Clock + Tide.
Next 3 Mods:
1. 2 additional solar panels connected in parallel.
2. Water maker.
3. Diesel hot water heater.
