 I was at the boat show here in Spokane where I met an older gentleman who used to own a Ranger Sailboat. He asked me where my Ranger pennant was. He claimed that there is a company budgee or pennant which feature an "R". He claimed it was a registered flag with whatever organization does that sort of thing. Had anyone ever heard of such of thing. If there is a historical flag for the company it would be great to bring it back for purchase for all the tuggers out there.

Thanks

Maybe we could organise and get a group order placed through Andrew for Ranger logo commuter Mugs(how 'bout it Andrew?) Cost per mug would be around $3 - 6 each depending on the style.

Check out ths example....it even has a 12 volt heater!

Check with Andrew, There is a lady that has the pattern for Ranger Tug burgees. She made mine that says Lucky Fin and captd in same color as my boat. They are double sided and very professionally done. $40.00 I think.
Maybe she will come on line and tell us. She is a tugger. They are very nice. 🙂 I will post a picture,

We also purchased a pennant from Linda of "Island Ranger". She does beautiful work and there are some pictures you can see from their gallery. The only way I can find the burgees is to go to the forum page or the home page and look on the left side where you will see a listing of names and the number of times they have posted to this website. Look for Island Ranger, click on the name and it will take you to some of the burgees she has done. She charges $40 but it is well worth the money spent. 🙂

Good luck.

Yep - Linda has made quite a few burgees already - if you noticed, each boat at the Seattle Show has one! I've put a few picture in our album. She has an "order" form if anyone is interested

Mac: see my PM.

That is correct! Linda (Island Ranger Crew) has made some really neat burgees for our display at the Seattle boat show this year. You might want to send a private message to the crew of Island Ranger, and they will help you design one for your boat! Let us know if we can help!

No need for me to post a picture for Mac's site already has better ones than i can take. In fact the red one is mine.
Thanks again Linda, we love it.

Mac: I've lost the order form for the pennant flag your wife makes. I'm interested in buying a blue one with our boat's name of LAXEY on it. Let me know. I did send a PM but it seems it's not going thru..... 🙁 Thanks... Barry

I'm seeing two themes; I think. :? One is a private owner's burgee. The other is a Ranger Tug burgee. Maybe even a third theme, a Tugnuts burgee.

I'd like to have a Ranger Tug burgee, or a Tugnuts burgee. Is Fluid Motions/Ranger Tugs allowing us to use their designs/names? Sometimes those images/names are protected and one needs the owner's permission to use them.

I'd like to fly a Ranger Tug or Tugnuts burgee along with my Lake Lanier Sailing Club burgee.

We used to fly the AOG burgee, Albin Owners' Group (very similar to Tugnuts), on our A27AC. 🙂

B/T/W, there were a couple of companies that made Ranger sailboats. The boats by each company were entirely different. I owned and raced a Ranger 22 which was called a MiniTonner (In fact I owned and raced three different MiniTonners and own one today). They were built to the IOR (International Offshore Rule), a measurement rule for classifying racing boats. That company built a Ranger 23, a Ranger 26, a Ranger 29 and a Ranger 33 (I think.)

Please let me know if it would be possible to place an order with Linda for a Ranger Tug pennant … and, if so, how.

Reading these posts about flying club burgees and private signals [e.g. Ranger Tug pennant], lead me to Chapman’s to figure out where the flags should be placed. I have a 21 EC, which was delivered with a stern staff, a signal mast with a gaff, and no bow staff. Not sure that I have it right, but Chapman seems to say that on a motorboat with a signal mast, the U.S Ensign is flown from the stern staff; but, if the signal mast also has a gaff, the Ensign is placed at the gaff while underway. To add to this, Chapman says, “It is normally the proper practice not to fly more than one flag on a single hoist.” But, if the single hoist on the mast is used for the Ensign, where do we fly the club burgee and Ranger pennant? Do we use the spreaders on the signal mast? Hope someone can shed some light on this.

According to several websites for a power boat it's as follows:

ENSIGN (old glory, yacht, USPS): flys from the stern staff. size should be 1" lenght for each foot of boat or next larger size available
Club Burgee: from the bow (all by itself)
Personal or Officers Burgee: from the masthead
Other( away, dinner, etc): from yards on seperate halyards (presumably this would include the tiny boom on the Ranger mast)

I'm sure there may be other "rules" but that's what I've found.
Only hard and fast rule of flag ettiquet that I can think of: If someone doesn't like the placement of your "cocktail" flag they're probably not going to get invited aboard....unless they're buying. then it's ok to move the flag to where they want it to go....'till they leave.
