R-23 (Outboard)
Hi all,
I have a R-23 with a Yamaha 200 outboard and having an issue with the power tilt. About 50% of the time is lowers all the way down on command but sometimes it stops a few inches after it contacts the trim rams. Motor keeps on running but if I give the motor a nudge I can get past this area of hinderance and successfully lower it the rest of the way without further help from me. Any ideas what I should look for?
Thank you!

I had this happen a couple of times. Are you lifting your motor and leaving the rams exposed while in the water? The trim rams are in the water.i had to get a piece of wood to get them to retract. Now I don’t ever raise my motor when in the water. I also spray some lithium grease on the rams occasionally. Never happened again.

Thanks for the reply Hamster. I just purchased this boat and have it moored on our buoy. I do generally lift the motor when not in use and fresh water rinse it. However yesterday l saw ChannelSurf’s video regarding retraction of the trim rams. I’ll try spraying lithium on them too.
Cheers

Could it also be a fluid problem? Since it is in the water it isn't easily checked I suppose?
