Ranger r23 outboard to Alaska?

OK, I know I'm posting a lot... sorry🙂

Still researching the Rangers and their ably to handle the inside passage. It's amazes me that Ranger does not have more marketing material. I have contacted them a bunch of times and they always get back to me quickly, awesome from that standpoint but how do you build such a great product and not have excellent video's and marketing material is beyond me.
But that is my art director marketing point of view🙂 I can't find hardly any underway video's of the R27 OB or the R23 OB.
Just looking for data.

I'd be tooting my horn ever second if this was my company. Anyway.... anyone out there have an R23 OB that they done all or part of the inside passage on? I'd love to hear your experience with such a small boat.

Really wondering if it is truly big enough for the San Juans and the IP and up into Canadian waters, for two people.

I'm not talking about just island hoping but hard water 2 to 3 month long distance cruising. I know Curtis has an R23 OB and says he would not hesitate to take her to Alaska and I know of the 3 gentalmen that took R21 up into Alaska.


Just curious if any real world experiences any of you have had.

I’ve just returned from princess Louisa and chatterbox falls on a 10 day cruise. Two on board crossed strait of Georgia, boundary pass and Rosario strait twice each, only once in bumpy conditions. We crossed the big strait late afternoon with wind around15 to18 , Good chop from 2 to 3 probably. The seas and wind were mostly from behind on the quarter. Our boat planed at 20 to 24 mph mostly. Daisy does well on big water. More space is always fun, but weveve always cruised in pocket cruisers, so Daisy is fine. We have quite a bit of un used storage space. We plan on going north north of desolation for a few weeks in August. I’d like to have video of Daisy running in big waves, but when we’re busy handling water, we never think about cameras, too busy I think. For photos of daisy’s Trips look at our album

I am not sure how to answer as you are only half of the two that would be on the boat that long. I wouldn't hesitate to a second to take our 23 to Alaska and would be fine with my daughter on board for the entire trip.

My wife, on the other hand, would be better suited to flying up and meeting me there. Storage is tight and she is uncomfortable with clutter and things laying around so she would struggle for a long cruise.

Your situation is likely different but it is the people involved that would determine success, not the boat.
