We have narrowed our choice for a tender to two
Portland Pudgy
Zodiac compact 250 foldable rib
Thoughts??? Thanks

We have a Zodiac 230 Aero that fits very nicely on the R25SC platform with Hurley Marine H2O davits. Very light, folds up nicely for the highway portion of the trip, rows well. The aero floor is so comfortable when we are at anchor and it is not on the davits the dogs frequently jump into the tender and take their naps.

The Hurley H2O davits also remove very nicely from the platform with just low profile mounting plates remaining when you want to use the platform for swimming, wake surfing etc.

Thank you very much. We were not even aware of the hurley davits. Weaver makes their davits here in Rathdrum ID so just assumed we would use then. Does your 25 sc have the propane locker on the swim platform??? Do you know the width of your tender? any pics of the tender on your boat??? The only reason we want the 250 rib is for the fiberglass bottom. Just need to know if their is enough room on the platform with the propane locker. Thanks again. Bob Legg leggacyid@gmail.com

No we do not have the propane locker. That would pose a problem with the Hurley davits. I prefer them because the tender sits low enough that it does not block any vision. You can get an extended version of the Hurley davits that might work for you. Hurley is a small company with personal service and if you e-mail them with a picture of the platform and the propane locker with dimensions they will let you know if the extended version will work. In my haste to enjoy boating I failed to take a picture with the tender on the platform last fall at the lake and when I put the boat in the garage there is no extra room so the davits come off. We settled on the 230 Aero because it is no longer than the Ranger is wide so we do not have to worry about overhang.

Specs on the Zodiac 230 Aero: Length = 7' 7" Beam = 4' 5" Weight = 53 lbs

Thanks for the help and suggestions. the 250 is 11" wider than the 230 so I don't imagine I can make it work but will give then a call. Wishing you clear skies........cuz its an icebox here in Coeur d'Alene, ID and 86" of snow Bob

We have an Achilles inflatable on Weaver Davits on our 25SC. We also have a custom storage box mounted on the swim platform and there are no issues with the dinghy up on the Davits. I would stay away from any dinghy with an inflatable floor, they are a major source of air leaks on the seams. Also not good for fishing when you put a hook through it which I have done, not a good sound when the mother ship is 1/2 mile away. I have now replaced the air floor with 3/8 marine plywood.

We Purchased a GALA 270 for our 26 Cutwater.Gala are made by Grand ,manufactured in Europe, and distributed out of Canada. We saw it at the Chicago boat show. Gala are a full line of aluminum rigid hull inflatables. We were planning on purchasing a inflatable floor dingy because of weight. I want to use weaver davits and mount the boat on the swim platform. Stern weight is a concern with the 26 Cutwater . We saw the Gala , Aluminum hull ,it weighs 99lbs,(lighter then fiberglass hull and deeper v) 8'10'',4 person capacity, deep V hull with keel protector for beaching, forward locker for fuel tank, and seat .!0 hp capacity. We went with this boat for weight of hull, more durable then air floor, 4 person capacity , most dingy's in this size are 3 person. I haven't set it up on the boat yet Im still working with weaver on the set up . I'm going with the arc brackets instead of the glue on Brackets. Weaver is familiar with Ranger and cutwater boats. They recommend a 4 "by 4" offset on the swim platform mounting. I will post Pics in my Album when it is set up.

And thats the 270, 270d or 270a. Do you walk on the alum bottom or is there also a flat floor Alum or wood. I wrote them and the site they sent me to is not very specific

There are two models one that you walk on the bottom . It has a non skid surface. They also make a 270 with a flat floor welded on the hull with drainage undertake floor to a drain plug. I purchased the non floor model , the interior is deeper and it is 14 pounds lighter. I sent you a drawing of the 270.
