Ranger Tug 27 people capacity

I was wondering how many adults I can take for a ride in our R27. My daughter will be in south Florida from CO and is asking for a day trip down the intercoastal waterway. We ended up inviting a total of eight including my wife and me. Are we overloading or at the max capacity?

I have had eight on mine. Make sure you have the proper amount of life preservers.

I once assisted with pulling a kayakers and swimmers out of the Willamette River who were part of the annual Portland bridge swim (the swim had to be canceled because a lightning storm moved in). I think at one point I had 7 swimmers/kayakers and my 3 crew, plus me (so 11 total). I taxied the group a few miles up river to where the swim had started. I did that running at about 5 knots, speeding up a bit (maybe to 8 knots) at a couple of points. The boat didn't even notice. I was impressed. (And yes, we had extra pdfs, plus the kayakers all had their own on).

I think you will be fine with 8 aboard, as long as you aren't trying to go at top speed or close.

We once took 11 people on our R27. 6 adults and 5 kids. Only a 3 hour slow trip for lunch. Life jackets for everyone. No problems. I called Kenny at Ranger Tudgs prior to the trip and he said it was up to the captain. No mfg or legal limit for a 27 foot boat. I would not have gone in anything less than calm sunny weather. 8 adults is a probably a reasonable equivalent.

The Canadian Compliance Notice attached to my R27 by the factory specifies a maximum of 10 persons (1850 lb.)

I have had eight adults on my 25sc with no problem....could not really see any impact except a lower top speed.

like wise, I have had 8 on my 25. 4 comfortable in the cockpit and 4 in the cabin.

Thank you very much for all the good information. We're going to keep it slow so we can enjoy the ride and the day. The most we have ever had was six so I wanted to be sure eight would still be safe.
