Looking for some insight into boating on Lake Erie. I am moving jobs to Ohio and would hate to have to sell my beautiful Ranger Tug which we currently use in Southern California. Any recommendations on cruising, lake conditions, marinas etc would be appreciated

Lots of good boating out of Sandusky, look for bass islands and Kelly island. You can even come up the Detroit river.

Ranger Tug owner moving to Ohio,
There are 3 Ranger Tugs Located in Marblehead, Ohio. Two of us are in Skipper Bud's Marina and one next door in Tibbels Marina. I love the location because we are just a short run to Kelly's Island and 3 Bass Islands ,South , Middle and North.
Skipper Bud's has heated storage, nice pool and a nice club house.

There is a Ranger Tug Dealer on Lake Erie. Reed Yacht Sales Toledo Beach Rd, La Salle, MI.We purchased our 26 Cutwater from them. Brent Reed owner very good to work with. There are a number of Rangers and Cutwaters in the midwest.

Lots of great boating on Lake Erie and as others have mentioned you can cruise all the Great Lakes. We are near the middle of the shoreline on the Ohio/Pennsylvania border which differs quite a bit from the Western end of the lake. Bring the boat you'll enjoy it.

Don't forget easy access to the Erie Canal, Canadian canal system, America's Great Loop, etc. etc. etc. I dream of cruising that area in the next few years.

Thanks for all the feedback..real excited about the possibilities, now to find a trailer and truck 😉

In addition there is a Ranger Tug/Cutwater Rendezvous schedule for July 31, August 1 & 2 off of Lake Michigan in Charlevoix this summer. If you get situated before then let me know if you'd be interested in attending. We have 19 couples signed up currently, good chance to meet some fellow midwesterner Tugnuts.

Some of the best fresh water boating in North America is in Canada's North Channel and Georgian Bay, another consideration for bringing your R29 East.

Thanks Jim, We are planning a mid to end of July transition so the timing might not work out for the rendezvous, but we will try to attend and look forward to meeting other Ranger/Cutwater owners.

I second the comments on Brent reed , he is a man of his word , fair and easy to work with.

Kept our boat at Erie last season ,loved the boating and fishing.
