I have been reading everything I can find about Ranger Tugs and Cutwater boats. I read all listings on Yachtworld. How does one choose between Ranger Tug 27 and Cutwater 28? How do owners feel about the Yanmar vs. the Volvo engines? Thank you for any comments.

The looks are one thing. Some people like the Tug Boat look, others don't. The Cutwater is a little faster, more of the "Sea Ray" type boat. Both boats are good quality. I prefer Yanmar, but never owned a Volvo. I'm sure either engine is fine.

Two things you might wish to consider are the size and configuration of the cabin and the design of the cockpit.

For example, do you envision boating very often when you will spend much of your time in the cabin due to weather :?:

Are you imagining having others over often for "Happy Hour?"

Will you regularly travel with 2 or more aboard :?:

Both great boats more than capable of extended cruising, especially with two people and a reasonable toys like kayaks, bikes etc. - it's all about the overall look, cabin configuration, and any need for speed - the Cutwater can if pushed put another 8 - 10 knots on if required. Both handle seas well. Superb fit and finish, and apparently reliability on both.
