Raritan toilet won't fill with water R-27 2022

Problem = Toilet will not fill with water, i.e. no water getting to bowl. Electric pump works and will drain water put in bowl manually.

I have done the following troubleshooting according to the manual:

• Sea cock through hull fitting working correctly to feed wash down water
• I have cleaned strainer
• Blown water back through intake line from toilet to open strainer
• Blown water through air vent

It should self prime. In my experience when prime is lost I need to hold the “flush” button for about 15-20 seconds for it to prime. Assuming you did this but just thought I’d confirm. .

Call Raritan. There is a check valve inside the toilet that may need replacing. Easy job. I know of 2 other boats that have had this problem and a quick call to Raritan, sent them the part, and it fixed the issue easily.

Dave & Lynn: Thanks for your response. I have been filling the toilet manually, rather than running the pump too long at one time. Wrote to Raritan yesterday and had a positive response, but not yet spoke with tech support

Update about Raritan toilet not filling with water 8 15 2023

Raritan sent me a diaphragm pump rebuild kit via mail. I have successfully installed the kit and everything seems to work correctly with no leaks. Difficult to say why this was needed on a brad new 2022 boat, but glad its done. I learned several important lessons.

1. Take the bowl off to gain access. its easy to do and makes the job much easier
2. The motor is "hard wired" to the boat. I had to cut the wires and install male/female connectors should this ever need to be done again.
3. Pull the power wire off at the flush switch
4. Reinstalling is tricky as the macerator end that fits against the housing is not symmetrical. It can only go one way even though the bolt pattern will fit

Thanks very much for these tips! I need to make this repair on my 2020 R-27, so it does seem like it’s a very common issue!

Thanks for the information, not too pleased with my Dealer, charged me $1200 to repair in 2019 and now doing same thing.
