I have an R21EC and would like to put a radome on it. Has anyone had problems with their radars being damaged due to the mast being tipped forward while it is being towed down the road. I just can't see it being rattled in this position as a good thing for very long. Is there stuff in the radome that can be thrown out of alignment? Thanks

Dave

Dave, I have installed several radars which has involved taking off the cover of the radome to hook up wires. There is a rotating antenna device in there, driven by a rubber belt. It gets bounced around a lot when you're underway on the boat, up/down, front/back and side/side. It wouldn't get much more motion down the highway (maybe less in fact). I would tie the mast down securely so that the whole shebang doesn't bounce. And put some padding between the mast/cabin top also. I don't think this is a serious issue.
