One of my raw water intake strainers for the AC is leaking I have a couple of questions.

1. My strainer is mounted so low it is very difficult to remove and extra difficult to reinstall as I cannot get my hand under the strainer ( I think I pinched the O ring), is there any reason the strainer cannot be raised 4"-6"?

2. There appears to be a white sealant used by the factory at the hose to barb fitting for the strainer, anyone know what this sealant is?

3. I would like to install a T fitting on the output side of the strainer to simplify winterizing, has anyone done this? Other than adding another possible failure point, does anyone see an issue with this?

4. In replacing the strainer I plan on replacing the hose, the hose utilized by the factory seems to be out of stock everywhere I have looked I did find this hose which seems more than adequate though pricey..

Fairly expensive but sold as flexible

Less expensive but not sure if it is suitable for tight bends.

Lastly - The hoses are short and it is very tight I am wondering about decent flex in any replacement hose I buy.
On my old R23 they used a clear nylon reinforced hose, I assume the switch on the R31 is due to the proximity to the engine
