Help! I have been unable to find a grey mounting yoke for a Raymarine 54 VHF radio. Since many prefer to flush mount their radio and a mounting yoke is sent with every radio one would think they would be easy to locate. I have not had any luck. I have contacted Raymarine and several dealers with no luck.

Are there any tugnuters that would know where where a gray mounting yoke for a Raymarine 54 is avaliable for purchase?

Usualy I keep every thing, like that. I finally threw away the Garmin mount two days ago. What is the measurement of this one for the R-54. captd

A couple of options if I was in your shoes"
The dimensions of these radios, across different different brands, do not change very much. I would look at the second hand and consignment places that have radios or marine parts and browse them. These mounting brackets can be bent to fit the Raymarine 54 radio and a shot of black spray paint will make it look like new.

Fabricating a mount from 3" wide aluminum or stainless stock is pretty straight forward: two bends, four holes and a shot of paint.

Best of luck!

Very funny, I just dealt with this exact issue. I have a Ray 54 that was mounted very low under the wheel, and I wanted to move it on top of the dash. After much hassling with Raymarine and sevral dealers, including WM, it was confirmed that the mounting yokes are no longer available.

Solution? I went to my friendly neighborhood chancellory, and they fished through a pile of discarded gear and found me a yoke that is nearly a perect fit. We couldn't find matching knobs, but we got a couple of bolts and fender washers that fit perfectly. I'm a happy camper.

If you have access to a used marine supply you might check this out as well. My understanding from RM is that the yoke for the Ray 49 is the same. I also considered the possibility of making a yoke out of wood, which wouldn't be all that difficult and might look very nice if you have any woodworking skills.

That is part of the problem. We live in the middle of corn and soybean fields in Illinois. All inquiries and requests need to be made by e-mail or the phone. It would be ideal if I could "drop in" a business that installed RM equipment. Since the yoke is included with a radio and many owners mount them flush you would think it would be an easy task to locate one.
I have had no such luck. I would be willing to purchase one-I just have no place to go. Any suggestions?

Tuggin,

Have you asked Andrew?
Seems like Ranger should have a whole pile of those things laying around.

I called Andrew, "the go to guy" first-no luck.
Still looking.

Marc--
I hope your weather is nicer than ours today--cold and wet. Leaves are falling and winter is fast approaching.

We were on a friends boat this weekend who had a Standard Horizon VHF radio. I checked the yoke and it would have fit the RM54. Any yoke would work if it has a 6"opening.

PS Our plans are to stop at Wefings this spring on our way south.

I have a Garmin bracket here at the Ranger Tugs - Monroe factory. If it looks like it will work let me know and I'll get it to you.
