Many of you have met Anne Cox who cruises on Cascadia. Anne has had to make the hard decision to say farewell to her beloved dog, her constant companion, Gus, this week. Gus has been at Annes's side for over twelve years, living aboard Cascadia with her for the past two years, and this is going to be a time of grieving for her. Our hearts and thoughts are with her.

Losing a best friend is terribly difficult, our thoughts are with her.

We feel your pain, Anne. Just three weeks ago we had to put Dante, our 14 y.o. poodle, to sleep. His hunches had gotten too weak for him to walk. We miss him and we know how much you will miss Gus.
So sorry,

Anne, we are so sorry to hear this. Having been through this, we understand the pain and loss. Our furry kids ARE family and it leaves a big hole in our hearts when their time comes. And sometimes, you have to do that very last act of love that is so very painful.

I wish I had some words that could take away the grief, but know that the hurt you feel is because you love so much. Gus is no longer in pain... you were kind to him, right to the end.

Our condolences,
Jim & Joan (and little Izzy, who we will hug a bit closer tonight)

Anne,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We know Gus brought so much joy to your life. He will be missed by all.

Take care,

Claire and Richard

Anne, I am really sorry to hear about Gus. I enjoyed meeting you and the big guy when I was moored behind you at Ganges last month. He was a great dog! Take care,

Anne,

We had the pleasure of coming aboard your boat and meeting you and Gus last May at Fisherman's terminal (just before we did the orientation on our boat for two days). Gus was a true "gentleman dog." We were honored to have the chance to meet him. As devoted dog people ourselves, and because of what a fine dog he was, our hearts go out to you.

Take good care of yourself, and we hope there is some comfort in all the warm and understanding sentiments of your boating community.

Vicki and I are thinking about you and Gus. We're happy you got to share so much life together.

Thank you Lois, for your kindness. We will all be happy to see you at the Rendezvous, but sad you will have to be in a wheelchair. Thank goodness you and Dan will still come!

And Tugnuts, thanks for all your support. Gus was a great pal, and we had many years of fun adventures as well as just hanging out. He taught me how a dog can be a wonderful companion.

Along with the rest of the Anacortes Tugnuts, I look forward to welcoming many of you to our Rendezvous at Cap Sante in just a couple of weeks.
