Hello everyone,
Does anyone have an idea exactly what day we will be meeting for the trip and where, or is it too soon to ask?
Rick

Spent quite some time on the phone today notifying the banks of the pending trip to Canada, too bad one cannot call just Visa as they transfer to you individual bank. All the banks were appreciative of the notification. One more thing off the check list.

From the official itinerary:

Our first stop on the cruise is Ganges Marina on Saltspring Island. Arriving on Friday July 26th and departing on Sunday July 28th. Reservations have been made for these dates. You DO NOT need to contact Ganges unless you are arriving prior to July 26th. If you are arriving prior to July 26th then please contact Celine at (250) 537-5242

Our second stop on the cruise is Nanaimo Boat Basin in the Port of Nanaimo. Arriving Sunday July 28th and departing Monday July 29th. Reservations have been made.

Our third stop on the cruise is Comox Harbour. We will be arriving on Monday July 29th and departing on Tuesday July 30th. Reservations have been made.

Our final destination is Gorge Harbour Marina on beautiful Cortes Island! http://www.gorgeharbour.com/ We will be arriving on Tuesday July 30th. We have reserved two nights at Gorge Harbour. Departing on Thursday August 1st. If you would like to stay at Gorge Harbour beyond August 1st then please contact Gorge Harbour directly at (250) 935-6433. Gorge Harbour is the gateway to Desolation Sound. If you prefer to stay at a dock rather than anchoring out this is a great place to return to each night after a day of exploring Desolation Sound and the surrounding area.

We will have a captains briefing each evening at 5:00 P.M.. During the captains briefing we will cover our plans for the following morning including route, tides/currents, departure time, and departure and arrival procedures.

Of course it should be noted that weather conditions can/may alter the itinerary schedule.

Two years ago we left Gorge Harbour on our return journey from Desolation Sound and quickly crossed over to Vancouver Island's east coast line (a quick and short path across Georgia Strait). Then we went south following the east coastline of Vancouver Island passing Comox and onto Nanaimo passing through the 'Torpedo alley'. Weather and calm waters were just fine and we were traveling at a fast 14 kts to make good time to Nanaimo. Then, as we got nearer to Torpedo alley and Nanaimo things changed very quickly. At this stretch wind and waves picked up nastily and we had to slow down to around 6 kts to ride the 4 to 6 foot waves hitting us almost head on.

The point here is, weather can change and subsequently so can the schedule.

This may be a silly question, but Are Mosquitos a problem in Desolation Sound?

Boondocker

Not a silly question I asked the under my posting "cabin screen door" From people who went last year not much of an issue, however under that post are some ideas for screens on the cabin door.

Hi

The advantage of being on salt water we have no problems with bugs except spiders.
