I'm toying with the idea of installing a rear facing camera on my R25. As it stands now, the view to the rear from the wheel is not very good at all. Also, as I'm going to be installing a Portland Pudgy on the swim step the rear view will get even worse.

I'm assuming I should be able to hook the camera up to my Garmin display -- any thoughts on this ?

Also, I'm trying to figure out the best location for the camera for viewing the rear scene as well as its protection from the weather etc. Maybe a peep hole in the funnel's rear facing surface might do the trick, eh ?

Has anyone else installed a camera for the above purpose ?

Barry,
Look at Solitude's photo album. I have hooked them up on both Solitude and Karma. On Karma, I have also installed engine room camera's.

I looked and nothing... where are those mysterious pics. Thanks... 🙂

Barry,
The pictures of the camera on Solitude are in the "Modifications" album on page three. I did not post any pictures of the rear view camera on Karma yet (thought I had). However, I have posted pictures of the engine room cameras. These are in the changes album (this would be the one with "Rangertugs.com as the cover photo). I will get a couple of pictures of the actual camera tomorrow and post.

Berry, I hooked my underwater camera to the tv. Works good but I can't reverse the image. It needs to be reversed to use as a backup. Mine is not wireless .The one on my pickup is. If you figure out how to get it into your Garmin , let me know. That would be nice.

OK -- thanks got it. Camera facing to rear and located in cup holder and another showing the display unit attached to under surface of teak shelving/cubby above front windows. Thanks....

I assume you were using Wi-Fi for the video transmission.

Since factory told me I could connect DVD player to my Garmin display I'm assuming connecting a video source such as a from a remote camera should work as well.

All I need now is for my Apple iPad to allow me to display the camera's images. (ha ha) 😀

I have reached the same conclusion, that i need a rear view camera...
At this point in time thinking of a wireless so the screen can be used when at the helm and also in the truck when towing...
