Wow, what a great weekend for meeting up with old friends and making new ones!!! This was our second Rendezvous in the Chesapeake Bay area and we had 23 Boats registered to attend. Unfortunately, not all boats were able to make the weekend, but those that didn’t boat in, came in by car. Attending the event, were 13 Ranger Tugs, 5 Cutwaters, and 3 C-Dorys, 21 boats total, which is an increase from last year’s event by 8 boats. Our silent auction for “Save the Bay” and the American Red Cross for Oklahoma Tornado Victims raised $1,039 which should help both organizations.

Tracey and I would like to give a special thanks to Mears Yacht Haven, for accommodating our group and providing an area for us to meet. Also, we would like to thank the “planning committee” consisting of Ken & Sandi Dalgleish, Fred Edwards & Cathy Jamieson, and Bill & Nancy Eggert, as well as the Pocket Yacht Dealers; Mark Schulstad, Tony Trubee, Tony Schulstad, and Chuck Wistar. Finally, a special thanks to Andrew Custis, who came out to represent the factory and was available to anyone who needed his attention. Andrew, we know how busy you are, and we all truly appreciate you coming out to join our small, but growing group. Thank you again for answering questions and listening to the owners. Sometimes that is all we need, to know that someone will listen and the assurance that Ranger Tugs will stand by their product, regardless of make/model of boat.

For those who attended the event, or who will want to attend next year’s event. Start looking at marinas that you may visit this boating season and see if that marina might make a good location for an upcoming rendezvous. Additionally, since no one came forward to ask to be next year’s coordinator, I guess I’ll retain the title of “Fleet Commodore” 😀 , so if you have any suggestions for next year’s rendezvous or would like to assist, please feel free to let me know. For next year’s rendezvous, we are looking at the Solomon’s Island area, so keep the first full weekend in June available for next year’s get together and let’s make it 30 boats!!!

Regards,
John & Tracey Garcia

John and Tracey,

It was indeed a great time. Very informative, completely relaxing, and totally fun, with all the activities you planned. The Lady T made it back to her slip after a 10 hour cruise down the Bay. Along with some "intriguing" sea conditions at the mouth of the Potomac, our little 21 EC (and Captain Donna) handled everything, as others have said, better than I did. Thank you again for all the hard work.

PS Just a reminder for everyone to send their pics to me of the Rendezvous (as a jpeg) and I'll assemble a slideshow and mail them out on a dvd, once there are enough pics.

It was wonderful I was a happy Ranger owner and felt secure. But now even more so with the information shared and the representatives that attended. Also the information from other owners was priceless. Mears staff was wonderful .
The Marina was great.
I enjoyed everyone I met. Thanks to all.

We had a great tme at the rendezvous. Thanks for all the hard work of the planners!
We had a long ride to Mears and the Solomon island area is even further. Isn''t there somewhere north of that? The Bay Bridge area would have been perfect. We had mentioned that Ken at Bohemia Bay Yacht Haven was eager to house us next year. Maybe we could meet at the new Tiki Bar at Schaefers Canal House
Thanks John and Tracey!

Kathy and Don,

If the Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbour is the one in Chesapeake City, MD, that would be a nice place. My intent has been to keep the Rendezvous in a more centralized location in reference to the Bay itself. Since our numbers have grown, and looking at the overall locations of all members, having a Rendezvous at Solomons, MD is about midway between Norfolk and Havre de Grace and where the majority of our boat owners keep their boats.

Now, if our numbers continue to increase, and I imagine they will, we may need to think about having two seperate rendezvous. One up north and one down south. We just have to get thru these "growing pains". Additionally, we still have the folks who wrote the books about Chesapeake Crab Shacks and Tiki Bars who want to meet up with us at a later time. Maybe we could do a "mini-rendezvous" and have folks go to Bohemia Bay and another group go somewhere between Annapolis and Norfolk? 😀

To quote Mr. Dave, the Volvo expert, we need to run our boats, so getting to the location (wherever that may be) is half the fun. 😉
