Wow, what a great weekend for meeting up with old friends and making new ones!!! This was our second Rendezvous in the Chesapeake Bay area and we had 23 Boats registered to attend. Unfortunately, not all boats were able to make the weekend, but those that didn’t boat in, came in by car. Attending the event, were 13 Ranger Tugs, 5 Cutwaters, and 3 C-Dorys, 21 boats total, which is an increase from last year’s event by 8 boats. Our silent auction for “Save the Bay” and the American Red Cross for Oklahoma Tornado Victims raised $1,039 which should help both organizations.
Tracey and I would like to give a special thanks to Mears Yacht Haven, for accommodating our group and providing an area for us to meet. Also, we would like to thank the “planning committee” consisting of Ken & Sandi Dalgleish, Fred Edwards & Cathy Jamieson, and Bill & Nancy Eggert, as well as the Pocket Yacht Dealers; Mark Schulstad, Tony Trubee, Tony Schulstad, and Chuck Wistar. Finally, a special thanks to Andrew Custis, who came out to represent the factory and was available to anyone who needed his attention. Andrew, we know how busy you are, and we all truly appreciate you coming out to join our small, but growing group. Thank you again for answering questions and listening to the owners. Sometimes that is all we need, to know that someone will listen and the assurance that Ranger Tugs will stand by their product, regardless of make/model of boat.
For those who attended the event, or who will want to attend next year’s event. Start looking at marinas that you may visit this boating season and see if that marina might make a good location for an upcoming rendezvous. Additionally, since no one came forward to ask to be next year’s coordinator, I guess I’ll retain the title of “Fleet Commodore” 😀 , so if you have any suggestions for next year’s rendezvous or would like to assist, please feel free to let me know. For next year’s rendezvous, we are looking at the Solomon’s Island area, so keep the first full weekend in June available for next year’s get together and let’s make it 30 boats!!!
Regards,
John & Tracey Garcia
