I'm about to put my boat in a charter program in Bellingham, where it will be based for at least 2025. I need to have some maintenance and upgrades done in spring, before it hits the water. This includes bottom painting, routine engine maintenance, repair of a coolant leak, extension of the amount of chain on my anchor, and installation of a Garmin rudder sensor. The charter company has provided me with a list of their recommended maintenance folks, but I don't know how any of them do with Ranger Tugs and I'd rather work with a company that knows our boats well.

Does anyone have any recommendations for companies they've worked with in that area? I'm not opposed to taking it to Anacortes or La Conner. (It's currently on a trailer in my garage in the Wenatchee area.)

We purchased our Ranger from Bellingham Yacht Sales. They are a Cutwater dealer and also have a service department. They usually have a nice selection of Used Ranger Tugs for sale and were very knowledgeable about the boats.

I used this company to install my Garmin kicker autopilot. https://www.shipshapeyouryacht.com/ Located here in Bellingham. Your charter may use them to turn the boat. Send me a pm if you need any review of other firms but I think a relationship with your charter group is priority.

I second Bellingham yachts. Good people that know your boat.

Thanks everyone for your input. I bet both companies are on the list, but I sure do like the idea of going with an organization that really knows our boats.

At this point, I've hired David at Ship Shape Your Yacht. The reason I picked them instead of Bellingham Yachts is because they were on the list provided by the charter company. I spoke to David and I think we're on the same page for boat management.

The situation is that I don't just need someone to do repairs or maintenance once in a while. I need someone who can go to the boat and check it over mechanically after every charter. David's company is already doing this for other owners so it makes sense for him to do mine, too.

We'll see how it goes.

But thanks, everyone, for the suggestions!

I thought David was good to work with at Ship Shape.

I liked the way he sounded over the phone. Like he understood the job, understood that it was mostly new to me, and was willing to work with me to get the required tasks done on time. He works on other charter boats in the fleet so he (or his guys) are always around. Thanks again for the recommendation. It was him being on the list and your recommendation combined that got me to call him.
