Crowd-sourcing some wisdom here. Where my seat covers touch the vinyl on my R-29CB, the damp conditions under the cover breeds lots of mildew stains, particularly on the white vinyl (as distinct from my R-27 which just had sunbrella covers on the seats...which I frankly like more).

Before I start applying a toxic brew to clean this up (the stains don't just wipe off but are in the vinyl), I figure others in wetter climates...say Florida or the PNW...have probably got this dialed already. I see lots of products on-line claiming to do great things, but it's the internet you know.

Thanks! Hope everyone is out messing around in their boats over 4th of July week.

Hello Jeff,

Here on the West coast of Florida, I have tried.several products from several retailers and Supply chains and my best results have been from Bass Pro Shops Mildew Stain Remover.

Bass Pro Mildew Stain Remover has been very successful on vinyl for me. I have actually used on a heavily stained Bimini with great results. I would like to believe that other similar products in other brands would work as good or better however in my experience, I have not found a product that works as well and for me, I am very satisfied with it.

I have used Folex cleaner on fabric and carpet stains with good results as well. Folex can be found at several local and online.

Hope this helps!

Dan

Thanks! I figure you got hot AND wet to deal with. On the San Francisco waterfront I get cold and damp. Still, lots of mildew this year.

We are in the Seattle area and have been happy with Star Brite mildew remover. You can get it from West Marine, Amazon and elsewhere. It has completely removed black mildew from white vinyl for us. Let it sit on the vinyl fabric for awhile and depending on how entrenched the stains are, it may take a little elbow grease.

I had some mildew on the cockpit seats of my CW. I used mold armor cleaner. Worked like a charm. I buy it in the paint section at home depot.

We have used OxiClean on our Mousefuzz and fiberglass surfaces. Spray it on, rub it around with a scrubby, and vacuum the cloth surface. 20 minutes later it looks like new.
