I have trailed out my R-23 from Illinois to Anacortes for two months of boating and find that one trim tab cylinder doesn't work. Wondering who I would contact in the area to get it repaired?

So sorry you’ve run into an issue on your trip.

We are very happy with La Conner Maritime https://www.laconnermaritime.com/, just a stone’s throw from Anacortes. They’ll come to you or La Conner is just an 20 min drive / 1 hour cruise from Anacortes. Our contact is Mark Crandall, (360) 466-3629. Let him know know we referred you.

BTW: Illinois is near and dear to Paul’s heart…he grew up in Chicago.

Message us if there’s any other way we can help!

ive used LA conner maritime a number of times. mostly good. had a few issues the last time as the service manager was on vacation and the yard guys let the quality slip.

otherwise they have been good and a full service yard.

Thanks, I will give them a call. Appreciate the help.

The biggest problem with service right now is that everyone good is booked out until July or August for appointments. On Wednesday La Connor Maritime was taking August appointments. I called about 7 places in the Seattle area for work on my Suzuki dinghy motor before finding someone who was only 2 weeks out for an appointment. Good luck!

Does it have electric actuators? If so, and the boat is out of the water, then a trim tab should be relatively easy as DIY. I would double check that there's power all the way out to it as soon as possible, then order a replacement actuator. (Don't know about hydraulic tabs.)

Two other options are mobile mechanics; this wouldn't need a yard if it's on the trailer; and a boatyard on one of the islands who might have availability (e.g. Philbrook at Roche, Essential Sailing at Friday Harbor, Island Marine at Lopez, etc.)

In any case, I would highly recommend to get replacement parts in advance so they don't have to order and wait on them. Good luck!

I agree that LaConner Maritime is the best in this area.
