My wife and I have just purchased an R-27 from Andrew and Ranger tugs. We plan to spend 4 months next summer cruising the San Juans, Puget Sound and up to Desolation Sound with the Ranger group. Since we do not know the area other than a couple of short tourist trips, I am hoping that the TugNuts will provide favorites. This could be marinas, anchorages, pizza, diesel mechanics, bakeries, hikes, whatever. I have looked on Active Captain and begun collecting cruising guides but I am sure that this group has more and better suggestions of the "don't miss this" variety. If there is another thread on the forum that already has this type of information, please direct me there. We are looking forward to this adventure and meeting many of you next summer.

Pam & Oliver Pepper (We haven't settled on a name but are leaning towards "Beyond")

Oh boy, where to start. Our favorite is Sucia Island. You can't beat the trails, scenery, and overall interests. Second for us is Stuart Island (prefer Prevost side) and for shopping we spend a lot of time in La Connor and Friday Harbor. LaConner Maritime is a first rate Diesel service center. In Canada, we like Poets Cove when we want to be spoiled, Ganges for shopping, and Montegue for just hanging out. The list go on and on. Just go and enjoy!

I would suggest picking up a Waggoners Cruising Guide - loads of info on marinas, anchorages, and things to do in all the places you might visit.

Congrats on the 27 - I think that boat is the real "sweet spot" in terms of towing and cruising.

Welcome aboard Oliver. Perhaps we will see you in our journeys. My wife and I plan on cruising the PNW next summer as well.

Congrats on your new R27, 4 months is the way to go. I addition to what has been suggested you should check out Paulsbo, Bell Harbor for accessing downtown Seattle, Lake Washington and Lake Union. I've attempted to attach two online cruising directories, one for the Gulf Islands and one for the San Juan Islands that can add to the Waggoneer Cruising Guide. Have fun and we hope to meet you next summer.

Thanks Jim. I have the Waggoners already but I was not able to download your cruising guides. Maybe you could attach them to an email and send it to me at pamollie@gmail. com. If the schedule works for next summer I want to attend a couple of my beloved Red Sox games when they are in town so I am definitely interested in marinas for Seattle.
