As I said, I knew my post would bring a response. I believe my tow miles, despite minimal hours on the boat, likely far exceed those of most others. There is no relation between engine hours and tow miles. That is a location factor. The Toyota dealer and my insurance company know exactly what I am doing and do not have a problem with it. I stand by my statement that towing my R27 with my Toyota Tundra has been enjoyable and trouble free -- even over the mountains. Towing MPG is about 10, while over-the-road MPG not towing is near 20. For me, a decent trade off vs the upcost for a diesel.

If you were trying to bait us with your posts, you have done a good job. My only response since you choose be irresponsible with your and other peoples property and lives is that I am glad I do my travel in another part of the country from you.

Andejack, You may want to have your boat/trailer combo weighed, if you haven't already done so. Your Toyota dealer has nothing to lose, and your insurance company may sing a different tune if push comes to shove over an incident. Not trying to be argumentative....

Greetings
All responses have been spot on. I personally have a F350 Super Duty FX4 diesel. Keep in mind, I use it on my farm for towing hay, livestock and equipment. It tows wonderfully and the engine brake works great maintaining speeds while descending grades. One thing I didn't see mentioned is the option of duel rear wheels. I personally don't have them because of some of the roads I have to drive. I've seen too many cracked or missing fenders on the duel wheel. Its just a consideration depending on the roads you intend to drive. Some places can get pretty narrow.
Just my two cents. It all comes down to personal preference

I have a 2001 3/4-ton Dodge pickup with 355K miles on it. It tows my R-21 EC with ease. I believe the Ranger Tug folks have a newer version of the same truck to tow ALL of their boats.
