I'm looking at buying a ranger tug 27 a 2020 with yanmar 300 OB. Casual survey Lifted center hatch cover in cockpit and noticed about 2 inches of water in the hold
Neither bilge pump was on. They were totally clogged with silt debris Etc. Found the reason for the water was cockpit drains were totally clogged up causing water to spill over.
Red flag. Cleaned out drains with an auger. Other red flag is the yamaha 300. The owner never performed the 100 hour maintenance required. Engine has 125 Hrs. on it.
I also noticed that there were numerous small rust spots on the prop ( all three blades). I have had 3 sail and an R25. Inboard yanmars. I never had any issues with rust on the prop.
All my previous boats had zincs behind the prop. The yanmar 300 did not. My question is this a concern? I know the 300 has 4 anodes in the upper part and I think 2 in the lower part.
Are the rust spots on a stainless prop a bad sign of corrosion? Also he had no maintenance record of any work at all. All comments are appreciated.
Thanks
