I just added a photo album of modifications to the Red Raven for those who are interested.

Not sure I know how to create the link but here is a try.

Hello Curt,

Welcome to Tugnuts! That's a FINE red ranger you have. I especially like your 'Zantac' battery monitor . That's a good one

Thanks Dave, fixed it! 😱

Curt,
How do you like the Xantrex battery monitor? I am thinking of getting one put in my boat for piece of mind while anchoring out.

Hi Rick,

I really like the Xantrex Monitor as far as I have used it so far (dozen days/nights so far). I really think this or something like it should be standard or a factory option. I can't imagine going without it. By shutting everything off except one item one at a time you can get a good feel for how much power each element in the system draws. Then you can watch it through the day(s) to decide if you need to shut or turn things down based on the usage and available sunlight to get through your stay away from power.

I'm interested in your Scad Black water holding tank monitor added to head next to flush button. Presumable this indicates the holding tank fill level. I assume some kind of sensor in the holding tank is required for this. If so, what kind of sensor was installed in the holding tank and how did you install it to provide this information ? Thanks. 🙂

I got an error on my first attempt to reply so my apologies if this is repeat.

The SCAD Solo monitor uses foil tape on the outside of the (must be non-metallic) tank. I think it may measure capacitance between the two strips. No need to get into the tank to install. You do need to calibrate it by indiacting when the tank is full and empty the first time you go though a full cycle. It also needs a connection to +-12V. A n in-line fuse is provided but I used available space on the fuse panel in the Port cockpit locker of the R 27 and a standard blade fuse. Readout is in 1/4 tank increments when you press the "Read" button.

The hose brackets are the "Hose Hangout" from Ace Hardware. Only about $4 each! 😀

Did you mean $14.99 at Ace maybe ? ... or maybe you were able to get it/them on sale. 😱

Come to think of it it was the original hangers I bought for $4 each. They were simpler without the door. I didn't like how they worked out and changed them out for these which are cleaner looking. I can't remember how much these were. That still weren't much. The original $4 price must have been stuck in my head.

I completed a few more customizations this winter and have added them to my photo album with links below.

Ready to get back out on the water!
