I have a Cutwater 30-CB. I am moving the boat to a covered slip at my marina to provide better weather/sun protection, however the height of the slip roof it too low to accommodate the radar/anchor light mast which is about 5 or so feet above the command bridge seat. I assume it was placed at this height to provide better radar coverage and to avoid exposing crew to radar emissions if radar is active when on the command bridge.
The process of raising and lowering the mast in order to fit the boat into the slip is a little challenging when on the water with wind and currents.
My question to the group is has anyone ever modified their boat and lowered the radar mast? If so, if you could send some photos. I will need to lower the anchor light by approximately 3' to get the clearance I need to fit in the covered slip.
