I want to remove the galley table seat sections on my R-29 (2012 model year) to have them reupholstered. Specifically, the seat sections above the wine cooler and above the microwave. Any advise on how to proceed would be appreciated. Thanks. Bob Pawlowski.

Hello,

We’ve received your question that you’ve sent to us on the Ranger website. We will be back to you on Monday.

Thank you!

I did this recently. You must remove the microwave or wine cooler to access the screws that hold the seats. First you must remove the liner panels from the midships bunk area. One of the best tools you can have is a small cordless screwdriver with a square drive bit. As I remember you need both a #1 and a #2 as both sizes are used. As I recollect there are some other posts on this issue.

The back of the seat you will need to remove the electrical panel.. That was how it was for my 2011. All pretty easy just be patient and take your time.

Also the folding seat is fairly heavy and awkward. I took it apart so it was easier to move around.

Along this line, has anyone else thought of importing the new ranger design doubl seat from r27 international an older model to eliminate the double layer of cushions. As you know the new design uses some clever levers underneath the seat the have a bi level seating arrangement based on folding position

If you are replacing the foam in the seat bottoms to a denser grade ( I highly suggest this ) take note that the folding seat bottom over top of the wine cooler, is thiner then the other seat bottom over the microwave.. I found this out after the seat wouldn't fold.. Took some precision cutting with the electric carving knife to make it right 🙂
