Fellow Tuggers:
I've got an inop Stern thruster on my 2012 R27. Have been in touch with the maker (Side Power in the UK) and the distributor in the US (IMTRA). I have performed most external electrical checks as outlined in their trouble shooting guide- hence believe the issue is internal - control box connections, solenoid, etc etc.

IMTRA wants me to ship motor for evaluation and is sending me the ratchet tool for those allen bolts.
The challenge now is to get that 'mother' out of the dark hole in the bilge.
I can't seem to get up with the factory guys for guidance (obviously busy with new boat and boat show stuff) hence I am on my own.

Any of you folks out there who have preformed this 'surgery'?
Suggestions on the best way to extract motor without damage to it or me would be greatly appreciated.

had similar difficulties last fall. Control Masters Side Power out of St. Augustine did the job for me and they may know of a more local connection for you. 904-260-9756. Side Power, in New Bedford, Mass. 774-992-7100 may be of help too. Sanity had water in the location of the stern thruster and it literally rusted. The weep holes did not drain the compartment. Sadly and expensively, a new thruster motor was the fix. BUT; added a Rule bilge pump with a float in that area and ran the drain line back into the engine compartment. One fix like this is enough!

Good luck

Appreciate all that replied to my plight - and thanks to SnugTug John for the link to his excellent pics of bilge diving for the stern thruster.
I am halfway there - I can see and touch it - hoping there is enough battery wiring cabling to swing it up on the holding tank since I have to disconnect the electrical connections to ship motor to IMTRA.

The link I posted was from Walldog. Thanks for the shout out, but I can't take credit for the great pics and step-by-step posted by him.
