I thought I was going to have to remove my Wallas because one of the bolts holding the lid on came loose and fell into the squirrel cage fan. In talking with Wallas and Ranger, I found that, at least on the early R25s circa 2008, they actually glued them in place. I don't know if they used 5200 or the equivalent but it certainly seems so - it's very tenacious. There is a bead of caulk under the side rails that you must detach. The only way Wallas recommends doing it is to cut the caulk - if there is too much stress put on the stove when trying to force it out, the ceramic top may break. I tried to cut it out but given I didn't want to mar the counter top and given that there was little space to access that joint, I decided against trying any more (my fingers were numb for a week after!). Luckily, I was able to force the bolt out through the fan without damaging it so removing the stove became mute. If I ever want to do the recommended service at, I believe, 3 years (long past), I'll be in trouble.
