Removing a Mase Genset

Has anyone removed a 2.5 Mase genset from an R25? Although mine works just fine (except it leaks oil), I've come to the point that I'd rather not deal with the noise and the list. Instead I would use my Honda 1000. I didn't want to do that before I got a dinghy engine, but now that I have to carry gas for it, I might as well carry gas for a genset. I think my Honda will be big enough since I've never needed to run the A/C on the genset and can't foresee running the genset for the length of time one would need to get any advantage from the A/C.

It seems the most difficult parts are getting a proper lift to get the engine out of the boat and finding the mounting screws and getting access to them.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

Mine was removed by the previous owner so I can't really offer any pointers on how to do it. He left the raw water and exhaust through hulls in place as well as the control panel and wiring. I "repurposed" the exhaust fitting as the vent for the Airhead exhaust fan. Still haven't removed the controls wiring thinking that when we sell the boat another owner might want to reinstall the generator. We never got used to having 110 on board so don't miss it. We get along just fine on 12V.

A couple of years ago I replaced the exhaust hose on the engine. When I got the hose off I found that the unit was not bolted down, this actually helped in the install of the new hose. I then used a couple of lag bolts to secure the unit. I would think once its disconnected a couple of guys should be able to lift it out. Once it's out try cleaning the oil filter screen that's impossible to reach in the boat. Think about leaving all the connections in place for future use or resale value.
If the dip stick is not in just right it will leak oil. When it is inserted it then needs to be rotated toward the bow.
What will you do to the engine for long term storage?

My wife and I were able to lift it into/out of a pickup bed. And neither of us is either young nor strong. Getting it out of the hole and off the boat will be a little harder but two reasonably stout people with sound backs should be able to do it.
