Looking to buy R27
Our R27 Luxury edition came with a built in microwave. We probably will not use it enough to warrant it staying.
Wondering if others have removed theirs and what they used that space for instead.
Ultimately I would like to have a 12V drink/wine chiller there instead. Does that exist? Or one that will fit in that space?

I can't think of a worse addition to any boat than a wine chiller. Power hogs for sure. Lots of owners remove their wine chillers and use the space for storage. As a matter of fact, If you're anywhere near Southport, NC, you can have mine. 😀

Just noticed that you're "Midwest Jeff". I'll be at Hueston Woods State Park in Ohio late July, early August for a Vespa rally. If you're close, I'll bring the chiller with me. And yes, I'll be trailering the Vespa.

I have an R27 with a second fridge in the cockpit. We use it as our drink cooler and love it. Rarely do we bring an ice chest on board.

There would be beer in there too, lol. Maybe the storage would be better. Thanks for the offer.

Is it 110 or 12 volt? or does it matter?

On our 2011 Ranger Tug 27 the Mircowave door latch failed and I bought a replacement at Lowes. Problem with removal was cleaning out the cave to slide under the Dinette area to remove inside bracket and to unplug the unit. Easy change, and lots of space under the rider seat for other toys, my plan is to add a Diesel Heater in that space.

Both Dometic and Vitrifrigo make marine rated compact drawer fridges and freezers. Some models are dual voltage compatible, and they use a traditional compressor and refrigerant so they don't drain batteries nearly as bad as the Peltier cooling wine fridges.

Thus far in my almost a year of ownership, I have used the microwave multiple times. The stove has never been used - and the boat is 12 years old. I did remove the ice maker this year - never used it. I think if I were a major fisherman, the ice maker would be extremely handy. The microwave cavity is fairly small and the microwave is light. The ice maker is far heavier and the ice maker cavity is significantly larger for decent storage. Food for thought.
