Subject: Removing propane stove and replacing with cabinet or draws

Has anyone removed the propane stove and replaced it with a cabinet or a set of draws ? If so, what was done to seal off the propane hoses, deinstallation of the propane alert sensor and subsequent use of where the propane tanks were stored ?

I guess a simple approach might be to leave the stove as-is and use it's oven for storage and abandoned the propane tanks to allow that to be extra storage space.

Thanks. 🙂

Someone on this site has done this. I recall seeing photos of the project, but I have no clue as to what the photo album name is.

On edit....I found the photo, but I still don't know who's boat is is.

That would be my boat. However I cheated by ordering the boat without the stove and then added the cabinets myself. The stove top is an induction for table top operation with a single "burner" from amazon. It actually works on the inverter if I have to. Sorry to have your hopes raised. However, I am sure a real craft person can close the opening in such a way to end up with the same result.

In hindsight, the stove opening is very helpful to get access to the plumbing in that area and I played with the idea of making a larger opening and then insert a cabinet into that opening that could be removed fully to gain that access if it becomes necessary.

For you pr case you may want to take the stove out and build such an inset furniture to achieve this result. The top surface could probably restored by closing the top side and with ranger tugs help recreate the top coloring or come up with a different top design like a stainless surface or even a second sink

Thanks for the responses to this subject. 🙂

At this time I'm unsure about our needs for the stove. I'll leave things as-is for time being and see how we get along with it. If after some time we end up not really needing it I will be removing it in such a way that allows me to re-install it.

If I were to remove it I would construct a large storage space with a flip up lid on the top to be flush with the counter top when closed. Not sure what material I would use for the lid, but maybe teak or some other material to match the stock counter top material. It should be quite easy to do and would provided a very large storage area and give me easy access to the Webasto 5 gallon diesel tank that sits behind and down from the back of the stove.

No matter, it's food for thought at this time. 😱
