I ordered a new wiper arm for my 2013 R 27. The original wiper arm does not have a set screw like the new one has to be able to remove it. I don't want to damage the shaft by forcing the old arm off. Any suggestions on how to remove it?

I tried calling the factory parts dept. but no response after several days.

Thanks,
Ken

Ken, Get a windshield wiper removal puller from Amazon..$7.00…silvery looking one. The jaw should be positioned to pull only on the female wiper part And not the splined barrel over which it sits. You may have to drill a hole in the center of the wiperblade cap in order for the puller screw to make contact with barrel underneath. This hole must be larger than the puller screw. I ground down the screw to make it more pointed. I must say the is one of the most ridiculous efforts I have undertaken on my R23. But after soaking in penetrating oil, lightly tapping and mild heat.Nothing worked but this. Good luck!

I am surprised that there is no set screw. You should double check and make sure. Short of getting a puller you can also make two cuts into the body using one of those oscillating saw tools or a dremel and then pop the piece out. Then grab the body with a vice grip or large plier and wiggle it off. I suggest when reinstalling that you apply some anti-seize. I also kept the plastic cover off and rinse after each salt water trip.

All, I posted pictures of the removal tool and use in my gallery. Click on the single image in the gallery and the other pics will appear.
