We would like to remove the rocket launchers on our C302 hardtop. We do not use the rocket launchers and it makes it very difficult to get the Bimini canvas on and off. Has anyone done this and if so, how difficult is it to remove the rocket launchers? Is there a backmount plate for the bolts or is it directly screwed into the fiberglass? Thanks.

Hi,

The rocket launchers are bolted through the hardtop. You would need to remove all of the fasteners on the aft side of the teak ceiling, including the catch for the flip door. You can then pry down the teak panels just enough to get access to the nuts for the bolts. With a helper, one person can undo the bolts while the other person secures the nuts with a socket or a wrench. You can fix the six holes with gelcoat repair or you can run the same bolts in the holes with a good sealant to prevent water damage.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Thank you very much for the information. We successfully removed the rocket launchers today and resealed the same bolts into the fiberglass. It was definitely a two person job but fairly straightforward once we knew what we were dealing with. Thanks again!

I sent you a couple of PMs. Sorry for doubling up. I’m still trying to figure it out.

Thinking of getting a 302 but like both the bimini and rocket launchers. Curious as to how difficult putting up and taking down the bimini is?

Got them - sorry for the delay. Just let me know.

Hagrid,

For the C302, having both the rocket launchers and bimini is definitely doable. The bimini canvas slides into a receiving track around the hardtop, so it tends to get caught up (and bunch up) around the rocket launchers. It is easier if you have 2 people putting it up. Since we do not use the launchers at all (and use the bimini a lot), it was just easier for us to take them off and mitigate that issue.

Hope that helps.
