Dear Ranger Factory-
I want to replace the fuel filler hose on my R27 OB and I found that the hose connections to the plastic tank and fuel filler neck appear to be cemented. I would like to determine what type of cement/adhesive this is and the best way to remove/detach the hose so I can replace it.
Sincerely,
John Carey

If you are replacing the Hose. Remove the hose clamps and carefully use a "Stanley knife" Utility knife with a new sharp blade. Make a slit or cut at the top of the barb fittings. Then work the hose loose from the fitting. The design of a barb fitting does not require a sealant. Slide the new hose onto the fitting and use appropriate sized hose clamps. Make sure that two clamps fit over the hose and barb of the fitting for proper clamping.

If you have the room, you might want to consider having the hose clamps close in opposite directions and not stack the tightening fittings together. IOW, if the clamping mechanism for one clamp is positioned at 2 o'clock, position the second clamp at 10, 4, 6, 8 o'clock so as not to apply all the stress of the clamps at one spot which could weaken the hose material underneath. And BB is spot on, barbed fittings do not need sealant. You might find hose picks useful but be careful not to scar the barb fitting. HTH, Gary

I also have a R27 OB and am curious as to what issue precipitated the replacement. Our boats seem like they're relatively new for issues with this component.
