They sure look like the same pads I have on my 2015 28. The ones I have lift straight up and off. They do get a bit stubborn at times , after being out in the sun and salt, but still come off lifting both ends at the same time equally. I will try and get a picture of the pads on and off when I get over to the boat.
Is it possible the previous owner decided to mount them differently?

I did not know these were considered knee pads, or removable... learn something new on this forum daily!

Scubabob, I have a 2018 C242 and the pads come off by lifting them straight up. If not screwed on you might need a block of wood and rubber mallet to pop them off if they haven’t been removed for a while. I have my boat in Punta Gorda near Fisherman’s Village for the winter and will be down starting this weekend. You are welcome to come by and see how the factory attached mine.

I had this problem last year, you can check my older posts. Most boaters refer to these as combing pads.

Although the RT guys thought they were installed with Z clips mine were actually screwed into the fiberglass from the back with small screws. Hard to find. I had to use a mini ratchet with Phillips or maybe Robertson bit to unscrew them. You may have the same situation.

Thanks for all of the replies.
Since there are no screws in the back, the lifting up method seems the way to go. I’ve been reluctant to use much force, but I’ll try to put some lubricant in between the seat and side. Will let you know the end result.
As for the “knee pad”, I got that from a Ranger salesperson many years ago while boat shopping. We asked what they were for and they said it was for when someone was fishing and needed a place to lean against. Go figure.
Thanks again.

I purchased some SeaDek combing pads. My plan is to remove the brackets for the combing pads, adhere the SeaDek pads permanently. The fit perfectly width wise, but need a little trimming in the length.

Easier and I prefer the cleaner look, to the dated upholstery on my C26.

Another option.
