Hello everyone, was wondering if anyone has had to change out the lights on their R23? I have a 2019 R23 and for some reason my lights aren't working. I was planning to do some night catfishing and was checking my boat over the other day and noticed that the red and green sidelights are out (white light is ok).

Has anyone changed these out? Looks like 2 screws to remove the housing. I was going to pick up the bulbs first (are the LEDs from the factory?) and then make the trek to the boat to replace, so any recommendations on what size, etc... would be helpful.

Happy boating

Check your contacts before replacing. If they are LED I would be surprised that they are both burned out. Whn you replave them be sure to get a green and a red spectrum. They are much brighter since the light each emits will not be filtered by the lens, hence much brighter when the rays are going through each designated color.

A bit unusual to have both navigation lights go out at the same time. Have you checked the three position rocker switch to make sure the switch is in the correct position for the navigation+anchor light? Off is in the middle position, up is anchor only and down is anchor+navigation. Or the reverse, don’t have that memorized. But it is a three position rocker in our boat and different than all the other two position rockers on that panel.

The Nav lights from the factory are not LED. Here is the replacement LED lights for both the Nav and anchor lights from Marine Beam. My replacements just arrived yesterday. My primary interest is the anchor light as that runs on battery. The navigation lights are on when you are running, so it is less about power management and more about increased visibility.

Email from Marine Beam (https://store.marinebeam.com/ranger-tug-leds/): "For the Nav lights, we would definitely recommend the FS-42-30C for the Anchor light and Nav lights. There is an output color selection box next to the "add to cart" button, and you would select Cool White for the anchor light and Red/Green respectively to both port and starboard. If you have a Bi-color instead of separate port and starboard, you can use the Warm White color, however, with the nature of LEDs the color rendering will be off slightly."

Thanks for that tip, Hamster. I had thought that all lights on newer Tugs were LED from the factory!

I'm an LED junky, so if these are indeed not LED, I'll be checking that link out. FWIW, I love superbrightleds.com . Not sure if they have equivalent bulbs, but I'll check both out and get the one with the highest lumen for such important lights.

*Edit: Superbrightleds doesn't seem to have an equivalent... and the few they have have MUCH lower lumen. So Hamster's link would appear to be the best. 😀
