I have a 2013 Ranger Tug 27.
Original batteries are Universal UB 1211000, sealed lead acid AGM’s.
Have served the boat very well, rarely hooked into shore power, run refrigerator 24/7 all summer when on mooring or anchored in Maine, but showing signs of needing replacement.
What is the factory using now on new boats?
What have people been buying for replacements.
Thanks,
Dick Keith, Alibi

i bought the same batteries on Amazon.com

Hi Dick,
I just replaced the group 31 Interstate AGM batteries on my 2011 R27. After shopping around locally I replaced them with group 27 AGM batteries. I went with the group 27's primarily to get some weight out of the stern of the boat. I found a Chinese manufactured Leoch battery for a decent price. They compared favorably with Trojan, Interstate Lifeline and Crown. I also gave serious thought to going with plain old flooded lead acid batteries from Walmart. I'm happy with the extra space in the battery compartment and about 50-60 pounds of weight out of the stern quarter. It definitely decreased the port list and brought the exhaust a bit higher out of the water. There have been lots of discussions on this forum about battery replacement.
PS. Used to live in St A, what a fun town.....
