I am noting belt dust around my drive belts and suspect that they are nearing the end of their life. Yanmar part #s are listed as 104511-78780 for the raw water pump and 129612-42290 for the alternator/fresh water pump. A Yanmar dealer in Campbell River BC quoted me $40 CAD for the first one and he would have to bring it in from Vancouver, BC.!
I tried to cross-reference them with no luck. The alternator belt currently on the boat (R21-EC) is a Bando 3375. The raw water belt has no markings. I could get a cross-reference for the Bando, or a new one of the same model #, but I don't think it is a good fit anyway; it seems to shake (twang from side to side) while running, even though it is tensioned properly. According to the specs I found, the Bando 3375 is 985 mm x 13.5 mm wide and 8.7 mm deep.
I am also suspicious that the installed raw water pump belt is a non-OEM replacement, and not quite right. When I rebuilt the raw water pump, the only way I could get the belt to clear the pump bracket as I removed the pump, was to remove the pulley. Ditto when I mounted the repaired pump; the belt was too deep to clear the bracket with the pulley installed. Anyone else have this issue? Made no difference how much the belt tensioner was slacked off; the pulley sheave edge is too close to the bracket to allow the belt to clear for removal or replacement.
I was hoping that someone might have an aftermarket belt recommendation or recommended dimensions. I know I could remove the old belts and size them at the local auto parts store, but I am not sure if that is the solution since the existing belts are likely both non-OEM. The boat is a 2006 R21-EC with just over 500 hours total. I have owned it since the clock was at 380 hours and 2018. Prior to that, I have no service history for the boat. Thanks in advance for any insight!
