I was wondering if anyone has had success in obtaining the new hoses from Yanmar. I requested the upgrade from a local Yanmar dealer almost 6 weeks ago. The Canadian distributor in Vancouver has simply told me they are not available and they will let me know when they have stock. Has anyone had better luck in the USA? Fortunately I am not yet desperate but I did have one of the hoses fail in the first few hours of use so I don't have a lot of confidence in them for the long term.

I'm in Washington State. My guy told me just yesterday that his distributor now has enough hoses to fill all back orders and will be shipping them out shortly.

I to have been waiting about 6 weeks

I was told by Mack Boring (Yanmar Distributor here in the States) that they had them in stock, but the local Yanmar guy told me he could not get them so I am going to Mack Boring to have the work done.

I'm taking my boat to Coeymans Marina, a Yanmar shop just south of Albany, next Thursday for the hose install. My contact at Mack Boring is Jody....MB is sending up the hoses.

Just got the call. My hoses are in 😀 . They came from Cascade Engine Center in Washington State

Got them about 2 weeks ago. Came thru Mac Boring from Georgia. The old hose had failed.

In New England, Mack Boring does have the hoses and associated parts (its like a kit) available as my local Cape Cod Yanmar authorized mechanics installed them on my boat yesterday. To those who say they are not desperate to get the parts and make the fix– I had a hose leaking for a time that was undiagnosed until I had a sudden severe hose failure while underway with alarms going off for overheating. I was able to limp back to my berth at 2 knots at a reasonable temperature, as I was only a mile away and on an inland river. It would have been a tow job otherwise.

Don't take this repair lightly, I would advise not using the boat or having plenty of vinyl tape aboard and going only into safe waters because the hose(s) can fail suddenly and dramatically. I'm off to pick up Alto, so toot-a-loo!

I'll second that Jerry. I had a major split develop at 10 hours. We cut off the failed part of the hose and re-connected. At 13 hours the same hose failed again and we replaced it with a new, old style hose. I've been carrying anti freeze and magic tape since then.

I was told by a tech that if it's a heater hose that you could just clamp it off (vise grips) if you have a failure and repair it later. Of course you wouldn't have your heater but you could refill your coolant water and make it in without a tow. Does this sound right?
